Hi! I’m Paula Millhouse.

I’m the artist at Paula Millhouse Fine Art.

I create colorful, hand-painted watercolor and acrylic artworks that bring joy, peace, and connection into your home.

My collections—Coastal, Nature, and Radiant Abstracts—are inspired by the rhythms of the ocean, the beauty of the natural world, and the emotions color can evoke.

🎨How I Create My Art

A thoughtful, hands-on process—every piece tells a story.

“I believe original art has the power to uplift, calm, and inspire.”

Each painting starts with a moment of inspiration—maybe a sea horse gliding through turquoise water, a moose in a mountain waterfall, or a flower blooming in sunlight. Or maybe the emotion evoked by pure color.

From that springboard of inspiration, I go on to:

Gather photo references of animals, seascapes, or nature scenes that capture my attention.

Sketch original thumbnails, or tiny compositions in my sketchbook, exploring layout, values, and color balance.

I combine images from multiple sources to come up with original art you can’t find anywhere else—that’s my superpower as an artist!

Then I develop the final design by layering expressive color with classic art composition principles—especially in my Radiant Abstracts, where I use color theory and intentional design to evoke feeling and energy.

Once I’m happy with the composition, I paint using archival, professional-grade watercolors on premium watercolor paper, or high-quality acrylics on canvas or wood.

I begin with the end in mind, carefully imagining the finished piece and how it will look in your home.

Every piece is hand-painted—no AI here—just pure, heartfelt, human-made art.

Whether representational or abstract, each painting is created to bring joy, serenity, and a sense of connection to your space.

For collectors who want beautiful art at approachable price points, I offer studio-printed fine art reproductions:

Sizes:

5x7" and 8x10" matted prints

5x7 prints: artwork is approx. 3.5 x 5.5 inches, fits standard size frames

8x10 prints: artwork is approx. 4.5 x 6.5 inches, fits standard size frames

Materials:

Printed on Canon professional matte photo paper using a Canon ink jet printer—and per Canon, guaranteed to last 100 years with proper care

Finish: Prints come matted in white and ready to fit into standard frames
